The dag knife is in excellent condition with no repairs or damage. Nice forged blade, appears to be a re-purposed buffalo lance blade. Very nice sitting fox mark in circular cartouche on the blade. Large Hudson’s Bay Co mark on the handle and on the other side is a conjoined HB mark in rectangular cartouche. Ash handle is original to the blade. The handle is in the shape of a canoe paddle, thus the name paddle handle dag knife. VERY NICE patina all over, really shows its age! Nice Dutch wheel shaped brass tack pattern on the pommel. The unusual style handle and blade are very desirable. Conservatively dated to 1860 but may be earlier. Please ask any questions you may have. Thank you so much for looking!
