Native American Cheyenne Eagle Blanket Coat by Ben Nighthorse Campbell Size XL
Native American Cheyenne Eagle Blanket Coat design by Ben Nighthorse Campbell. This is The Spirit Series, Cheyenne Eagle Blanket Coat by Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Size XL, and please see photos for labels. Because of the labels, I was able to do some research and found out about Ben Nighthorse Campbell. He was a USA Senator for Colorado, and. He serves as one of forty-four members of the Council of Chiefs of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Tribes. I contacted the old owner of the Native Jackets, etc. I also wrote to Mr. Campbell, and was contacted by his Chief of Staff, who happens to be his Business Partner, and he told me that the coat was made from a blanket that Mr. Campbell designed for Pendleton, as a fundraiser for the American Indian College Fund, to help Native American Indian children get into and through college. The coats design is of a traditional Cheyenne Eagle symbol, and was based on a Cheyenne Indian story, The Eagle, Elk and The Warrior, and the myth of the story involves an Eagle that is trapped on the ground by Elk horns, and a Warrior comes along and frees the Eagle, and the Eagle is grateful. He also said that Ben still wears one of these jackets. I certainly wish it would have fit me, but not my luck, but thats lucky for someone else!!! The Blanket Coat is made of 82% Wool & 18% Cotton, and lining is 100% Acetate. It is in good used condition; looks like it has never been worn, and does not smell. Approximately measurements are of the coat lying flat: Armpit to Armpit 27 inches, across side to side Back, top of collar, to bottom of coat 35 inches Outer sleeve, top of shoulder, to bottom of sleeve 27 ½ inches Shoulder to shoulder 21 inches, across side to side Bottom, side to side 26 inches. Please check the detailed description above for this items measurements & colors, I take my photos with a macro camera lens and it tends to make items look a little larger and lighting can distort actual colors. If listing says item is “Vintage, ” it means that this item was not recently made. I will not mark any package’s value less than the amount you have paid. However, in some situations this number only shows you that I mailed the package and that it was received and processed at a US Post Office. I insure all my packages through Stamps. If your package has not arrived, I ask you to please be patient & understanding, I do not make the rules, it’s their policy. Feel free to let me know that you have concern of your package’s arrival, but please remember that we have to give it the above mentioned time in order to file the claim and that I can not do any tracking from my end, I see the same thing you do. I will be happy to file a claim for any package that does not arrive or if it arrives damaged. Condition : This sculpture is in perfect condition. Bronze Dimensions with Marble Base:Height 14″ x Width 10″ Marble Dimensions: 7 1/2″ X 6″ Height without base: 10 Weight :20 LBS Inventory : 41Y1409614 This is an exquisite bronze bust of a Native American warrior chief. He stares at the beholder, wild and bold, with an air of spiritual resilience. His hair is adorned with braids that are wrapped with strips of deer hide coated with a turquoise patina. A long feather lost in the back of his hair stretches towards gravity also finished in a turquoise patina. He wears a bone breastplate which was a popular chest ornament or armor. Since the hair-pipe bones were difficult and expensive to obtain, the number of bones in the plate often indicated the wealth of a warrior. Such breastplates were worn on occasion in battle, but could be penetrated easily by an arrow or a bullet, so they were mainly a decorative or medicine item. The sculpture was molded using the archaic method of lost-wax casting with skin tones finished in a brown patina stain for perpetuation. The chief is mounted upon a black marble plinth with the artist. Virgin Islands, however, an additional charge may be required.
