Thomson River area, Mount Currie Tribe, near Whistler, British Columbia. The basket is bundled-coiled cedar-root, the other materials are the inner bark of the chokecherry. And the white is sun-bleached grass, a special kind. Called bear grass or reid canary grass. The basket is in very good condition considering near 100 years of age!!!! This is museum quality basket. Description: A larger size, Pima, willow and devil’s claw basket with great designs and a nice patina. Very tight weave with little to no stitch loss / damage. Maker: An unknown Pima weaver. Age: Antique (circa 1920s). Size: Measures 16 1/2″ across and 5″ deep. Condition: Good for its age, normal wear and fading expected with a dark patina.
