Send me your best offers! For sale is a fantastic Indian dag knife circa 1840. Plains Indian origin, most likely Sioux Indian. The blade was cut down at one time in its life and re-handled. The blade may have been a longer buffalo lance blade that was cut down, or a large bowie knife blade re-purposed. Rare buffalo society blade. Large buffalo cutout and double volute dag knife cutout. The handle is tight and secure. Old iron pin with a pewter cap holding the tang in place. Excellent “in the metal” patina on the blade. This knife belongs in a museum or an advanced collection. Its a one of a kind! 17″ long and the blade is 10.25″ long. From my grandfathers estate, he was a lifelong collector of Indian and military artifacts. I guarantee this knife to be genuine and authentic for life. Please ask any questions you may have. I will accept offers on this knife. The Native American Indian and plains buffalo coexisted in an organic balance between nature and man. The American Indian developed a close and many times spiritual relationship with the buffalo. The sacred plains buffalo became an integral part of the evolving religion of the Plains Indian. Their diet of primarily buffalo created a unique physiological relationship. The adage “You are what you eat” was never more applicable than in the symbiotic relationship between the buffalo and the Plains Indian. The Plains Indian culture was intrinsic with the buffalo culture. The two cultures could not be separated without mutual devastation.
