Authentic original early 1800’s Sioux Indian paddle handle dag knife. The blade is hammer forged, this blade undoubtedly has been cut down from a larger buffalo lance and re-purposed as a knife blade, a common practice in the old days. Original ash handle has a nice old Hudson’s Bay Company trade cross attached to the handle. Numerous hallmarks, FOX, HBC, HB, Fleur Des Lis, and sitting fox cartouche. Handle is tight and secure. 9″ blade and 17″ long total. This is a fine example of a Native American weapon of war and utilitarian object in one. If you have a question, please ask. Good luck and God bless the USA! The item “Original Early Sioux Indian Dag Knife Paddle Handle Old Trade Cross Attached HBC” is in sale since Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Antique Arapaho Indian Pipe Axe Tomahawk Star Moon Cross Cutouts Colorado Estate
Original old forged iron trade pipe axe tomahawk. The head is beautifully forged and has nice cutouts. The Arapaho are a tribe of Native Americans historically living on the plains of Colorado and Wyoming. They were close allies of the Cheyenne tribe. Many Plains pipe tomahawks were made with small piercings, some being holes or weeping hearts. These tomahawks were especially made for high ranking chiefs, war chiefs and particularly notable leaders. Very few are in collections but those that are tend to be very fancy in decoration. Most have file branding, tacks, and specially made hafting. These tomahawks were carried as status symbols, rarely used in battle but carried as a recognition of power and importance. The ash wood haft is original to the head. The wood has a nice heavy and dark patina. The handle has been well used and has good wear on it. There are many “hot file” marks along the haft. A good patina on the surface of the head. The blade is LARGE! This tomahawk needs to be displayed and cherished for future generations to see and appreciate! 24″ haft 12.5″ head length. No reasonable offer will be refused. The item “Antique Arapaho Indian Pipe Axe Tomahawk Star Moon Cross Cutouts Colorado Estate” is in sale since Thursday, March 21, 2019.
