Antique Plains Indian Dag Knife Forged Blade Hudsons Bay Co. Paddle Handle 1860
The dag knife is in excellent condition with no repairs or damage. Nice forged blade, appears to be a re-purposed buffalo lance blade. Very nice sitting fox mark in circular cartouche on the blade. Large Hudson’s Bay Co mark on the handle and on the other side is a conjoined HB mark in rectangular cartouche. Ash handle is original to the blade. The handle is in the shape of a canoe paddle, thus the name paddle handle dag knife. VERY NICE patina all over, really shows its age! Nice Dutch wheel shaped brass tack pattern on the pommel. The unusual style handle and blade are very desirable. Conservatively dated to 1860 but may be earlier. Please ask any questions you may have. Thank you so much for looking! Authentic original early 1800’s Sioux Indian paddle handle dag knife. The blade is hammer forged, this blade undoubtedly has been cut down from a larger buffalo lance and re-purposed as a knife blade, a common practice in the old days. Original ash handle has a nice old Hudson’s Bay Company trade cross attached to the handle. Numerous hallmarks, FOX, HBC, HB, Fleur Des Lis, and sitting fox cartouche. Handle is tight and secure. 9″ blade and 17″ long total. This is a fine example of a Native American weapon of war and utilitarian object in one. If you have a question, please ask. Old Antique NATIVE AMERICAN Indian STONE War Club TOMAHAWK Beaded Handle
Antique Native American Tomahawk. Presented for your consideration is this interesting antique tomahawk or war club. This Native American (or Indian) tomahawk has a wooden handle with a green, red, blue and white beaded wrap around the handle. This handle is connected to the stone head of the club with rawhide. The rawhide has a beaded overlay around the center with fringe on the left and right sides. The large stone head of the tomahawk is smooth and has pointed ends. These pointed ends indicate that this may be a skull crusher that was used during war times. There are no markings to indicate a tribal affiliation or maker. Guaranteed to be antique and authentic. This interesting tomahawk or war club would make a great addition to any Native American memorabilia collection! Some of the beading has come loose from the end of the handle and one small area of beading is missing near the bottom of the handle. Some of the beaded wrapping is loosening near the middle of the handle. The stone head is slightly loose as well. Typical light age wear. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details. Measures 22 1/2″ long, 7″ wide at the stone, 2″ deep at the stone and 1/2″ in diameter at the handle.
