Native American Indian Royston Turquoise Sterling Silver Ring Size 8, ELOISE KEE
Outstanding Royston turquoise Sterling silver ring size 8, hallmarked by the famous Navajo artist ELOUISE KEE, and stamped STERLING. The Royston turquoise is known for its wide range of colors from a beautiful soft blue to emerald greens. The colors of the stone often run together in the same rock which creates some of the most spectacular turquoise stones on Earth. The combination of light and dark matrix contrasts beautifully with the light shades of green and blue of this gem. The stone is set in a segmented bezel, wrapped in a flat twisted wire with a beautiful raised cut-out border that has become KEE’s signature. The ring is 1 3/4″ tall by 1 1/8″ wide, and weighs 28.1 grams. This beautiful piece is in excellent condition. Note: This stone has some inclusions and lines that are natural to the stone. There’s a scrape and a tiny chip in the green matrix that may have occurred during the crafting process, as they are very clean lines. Because of all the natural lines of the stone, these other marks are virtually unnoticeable especially when worn. Thank you for supporting authentic Native American art. Much has been written and recorded about this organization that was established on September 13, 1931. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed all of the then existing records of this “Guild” that was headquartered in Gallup and so a lot of the historical record have been lost. The goal of the United Indian Traders Association organization was to have a small number of reputable dealers band together for the purpose of promoting the quality and authenticity of Native American arts and crafts. The most famous trader C. Wallace was a director and various high level US Government officials were also participants in its formation. Harold Ickes later became the Secretary of the Interior. Most experts agree that “UITA 21″ was one of the more (or most) famous of the participating locations and was located at Santa Fe Square in Gallup, New Mexico and run by Julius Gans for a number of years. It is believed that a large number of very famous and influential smiths worked there. Mark Chee, Joe Quintana, Ambrose and Sam Roanhorse, and Frank Patania are said to have some affiliation. There are a number of ongoing efforts to research the history and document what can be learned about the history of the UITA. Over the decades it evolved into more of an honorary social club for its former active members. In any event, UITA 21 pieces are quite special and have been for many decades. This charming Concho Belt is in wonderful condition and is a tremendous example of the fine art and design that came from a select group of artists generations ago. It is of heirloom quality, so if you like it… Here is your opportunity to own and enjoy this classic. Please, take a good look at the pictures and magnified photographs to see if it is the one for you. If so, I’d love to trade with you today! I will pack this carefully for you so that the conchos do not rub up against each other in transit and it will get to you in the same condition that you see in the pictures. I thank You and look forward to sharing a good experience!
