The image is printed using specially engineered ink technology for optimum image quality and over 100 years of lightfastness. Guaranteed to be new and in mint condition. Johann Carl Bodmer (11 February 1809 – 30 October 1893) was a printmaker, etcher, lithographer, zinc engraver, draftsman, painter, illustrator and hunter. Known as Karl Bodmer in literature and paintings, as a Swiss and French citizen his name has been listed as Johann Karl Bodmer and Jean-Charles Bodmer respectively. After 1843, likely as a result of his son Charles-Henry Barbizon, he began to sign his works K Bodmer. Karl Bodmer was well known in Germany for his watercolors, drawings and aquatints of cities and landscapes of the Rhine, Mosel and Lahn rivers. As a member of the Barbizon School – a French landscape painting group from the mid-19th century, he created many oil paintings with animal motifs as well as wood engravings, drawings, and book illustrations. Best known in the United States as a painter who captured the American West of the 19th century with extremely accurate depictions of its inhabitants. He accompanied German explorer Prince Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied from 1832 through 1834 on his Missouri River expedition. He was hired as an artist by Maximilian with the specific intent of traveling through the American West and recording images of cities, rivers, towns and people they saw along the way, including many images of Native Americans along the Missouri and that region. Bodmer was made a Knight in the French Legion of Honour in 1877. Many of Bodmer’s work was chronicled in Prince Maximilian’s book entitled Maximilian Prince of Wied’s Travels in the Interior of North America. Look and see what other collectors have said! “Whistle Smoke” BIG Limited to 100 prints, each print is hand numbered. The image is printed on mould-made, 100% cotton rag watercolor paper imported from France. The image size is 18 x 13.5 inches. The paper size is 30 x 22 inches. The image is printed using specially engineered ink technology for optimum image quality and over 100 years of lightfastness. Guaranteed to be new and in mint condition. The result is a stunning work, handsome, moody and would look great with any decor. We use the same printer as the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. The image is printed “Giclee”. Giclee is a high-resolution digital print that is created by a series of tiny jets spraying millions of droplets of printing ink onto the highest quality archival artists’ paper. The spray generates more than four million droplets of ink per second; hence, the name Giclee, which is French for fine spray. A precise computer control panel insures consistency of hue, value, and density. Giclees are of such phenomenal quality that even some art experts have difficulty telling a Giclee from an original. This fact has prompted museums and collectors to substitute Giclees for originals, thereby safeguarding priceless works in vaults. Since the Giclee process produces a combination of 512 chromatic changes (with over three and one-half million colors possible) and the resolution is two to three times that of lithographs or serigraphy, a Giclee captures every nuance of an original. Guaranteed to be in mint/new condition. Look and see what other collectors have said! The art print came today and it looks great. We’re building a new Arts and Crafts house and this will look great. In his notes Curtis said: Soft, regular features are the characteristic of Hopi Young women, and no small part of a mother’s time used to be devoted to dressing the hair of her unmarried daughters. The original style is rapidly being abandoned, and the native one-piece dress here illustrated is seldom seen even at the less advanced of the Hopi pueblos. Vintage 1972 offset lithographic print on art paper made directly from the original circa early 1900’s photogravure plate by the renowned photographer of the Native American Indian, Edward S. This is not a photogravure or chemical process print – it is a vintage photo-mechanical offset print (also known as a photo engraving) made directly from the original pre 1920 Edward S. Rare and long out of print, the now famous 1972 printing of these photo lithograph plates marked the first time since the early 20th century that these iconic Native American images have been faithfully reprinted from the original large Curtis photogravure plates, as well as matched for tonality and color. In the year of their release, the famous photography critic and author A. Coleman praised the high quality of these 1972 Edward Curtis fine art plates as being the truest printing of the photographer’s work he had ever seen, outside of the actual original turn of the century photogravure plates. Condition of this authentic print is excellent and it would frame up beautifully for display. This vintage 1972 sepia toned offset lithograph is guaranteed to be authentic and comes with a hand signed CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY (COA) with unique individual registered serial number from the Finephoto Vintage Archive & Database. Computer scans simply cannot do justice nor render the soft color palette and rich tonality of the actual print itself. The watermark word “Finephoto” does not appear on the actual print. I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how nice the picture is. In fact, much nicer in person than I thought. I can hardly wait to get it framed. Just a brief note to tell you how much I love my print. Notify me if you have any other prints available….. I have received your lovely print. It will be a beautiful addition to my home. It will look great hanging with my other prints. I received the print on Tuesday. Thanks for the fast turnaround!!! Most collectors like to get their own frames. (Guarantee) Everything is guaranteed.
