Red Eagle Creek Indians American Indian WARS Native Americans Alabama. I have not surrendered myself thoughtlessly. Whilst there were chances of success, I never left my post, nor supplicated peace. But my people are gone, and now I ask it for my nation, and for myself. William Weatherford (Red Eagle). The story of Red Eagle, Creek Indian chief, is rare in that no other book is solely devoted to the history of the Creek War or the life of William Weatherford (or Red Eagle). Weatherford, an Indian general, led the Creeks into battle against the United States in the Creek War as part of the famous Indian Wars, influenced by Tecumseh. Eventually, Weatherford surrendered to Andrew Jackson and the American army which would become the start of the Indian Removal Act, forcing Indians in Alabama and Georgia to relocate to the Indian Territory.
