Lakota Sioux Native American Indian Beaded Moccasins Medicine Mans Eye Paul Dyke

An amazing pair of Lakota Sioux beaded moccasins. Tanned hide, most assuredly Elk or Deer. Believed to be a pair that has slipped out of the impressive Paul Dyke collection, however no provenance of such exists. Nevertheless, these are assuredly Museum Quality. The skillset involved in the phenomenal symmetry of the geometric symbols is quite impressive. These moccasins were worn by a sizable Native American. I would not have wanted to mess with him! They are 11 in length, quite large for the average. The large geometric symbol I believe represents the Medicine Man’s eye, and centered is a cross, representing paths crossing. I do not believe there is a single bead missing. Sinew sewn, and done impressively at that. An asset to any collector, and my vision is for these to got a Museum where they will be forever cherished and preserved for posterity. Please use/rely on the pictures as your guide to condition. All items I sell are pre-owned and exhibit signs of wear commensurate with age. If I provide a condition report it is based on my interpretation, and is subjective. Your idea of condition may differ from mine, so please do not hesitate to inquire about the cosmetic and working condition of the item in question. Everything I offer is being offered as pictured. I make a concerted effort to provide good quality pictures, so if there is something that you need to see, and not shown in any of my pictures, do not hesitate to message me. It is one of a kind. It calls up the spirit of American History, the frontier, the west, and those who are a free spirit. This work has visible brush strokes, full bodied and is alive. There are earth tones in each painting so that it fits in on any wall. Laurelle Macy grew up on a farm in northern Canada. Endless in its dimensions, untamed in its spirit, curious in its isolation, to Laurelle it is this and more. It is the stuff of passion, of creation, of timeless inspiration. Macys relationship with the land and its people is a seasoned one. Raised in a series of bush camps, Indian reservations and boom towns in Canadas North West Territories, Macy understood early on, that her paintings could act as windows to a world little seen by others, but well known and loved by her. Laurelle first obtained her Associates in Adverting Design. She worked as a graphic designer before moving on to get her Bachelors in art at Brigham Young University. After returning to the north Laurelle enjoyed success in a number of galleries, festival and commissions. Her and her family moved to Utah where she completed her masters degree at the University of Idaho and has been actively involved in advanced design education at the college level. Laurelles major talent lies in her portrayal of what she calls living material. The centerpieces of her artwork are native people, landscapes, and wildlife, all arrestingly alive in her paintings. Macys refinement of detail is engaging and her love of color apparent, at times immediate and aggressive, at others subtle and leading. Macy experience with color and composition seems to reflect the very personality of her subjects. To see her paintings and feel somehow touched by an open genuine spirit. This singular connection between the viewer and the subject is Macys desire. To paint the west, its people, animals and its landscape with compassion and insight, she hopes is her success. Laurelle Macys work has been shown in galleries across Northern Canada and in select studios in Utah. In addition to her work, Macy is faculty a national art institute, has illustrated childrens books, portrait painter and is a 3 time grant recipient celebrating northern native people. Her diverse career, where she worked along side Dene Nation elders and Inuit carvers, to the cutting edge world of graphic design gives her tremendous understanding and perspective. An artist of unquestionable talent with yet untapped potential. Macy is certainly someone to watch for. 1780 Lakota Sioux Indian Pipe Axe Tomahawk Forged Head Gun Barrel From Wyoming

Original old forged iron trade pipe axe tomahawk. The head is a beautifully forged gun barrel and has a nice blacksmith’s curl under the blade. The ash wood haft is original to the head. It’s an extra long haft, about 24 inches long. The wood has a nice heavy and dark patina. The rings of the wood can be seen on the ends. The handle has been well used and has good wear on it. One shoulder on the haft, containing a hole for attaching a beaded drop or beads or horsehair. A good patina on the surface of the head. Good old lap weld on the neck of the blade remaining from the joining of a tempered bit folded into the head. The pipe bowl is a long unusual one. Rifling grooves are in the bowl, gun barrel remains partially intact for the bowl. Tomahawks like this were hand forged by blacksmiths for trade to trappers, traders, and Native Americans. The blade is a large classic style with small curl hook under the blade. The purpose of this curl was to aid the warrior in battle. The enemies blade could be caught on the curl and then disarmed. You can spot a small leather gasket fitting between the head and the haft. Concentric rings are on the haft in the eye. Brass tacks original to the period. This tomahawk needs to be displayed and cherished for future generations to see and appreciate! 24″ haft 9.5″ head length. No reasonable offer will be refused. The item “1780 Lakota Sioux Indian Pipe Axe Tomahawk Forged Head Gun Barrel From Wyoming” is in sale since Sunday, February 2, 2020.
