This is a Southwestern Art Etching by Amado Pena, Jr. (See Bio in full description). It is titled “La Ventana” and is a limited edition 36/65. The piece was appraised in 1987 and the Certificate of Authenticity & Appraisal is included. The art is nicely brushed brass framed, glassed and triple matted in cream and blue. It is hand signed, numbered and titled by the artist in pencil. The subject is a beautiful Native American Pot, blanket wearing elder and mountains in the background (I believe Monument Valley). His art celebrates the strength of a people who meet the harsh realities of life in an uncompromising land and his work is a tribute to the Native Americans who survive by living in harmony with an adversarial, untamed environment. His artwork is inspired by places such as Canyon de Chelly, Spider Rock, Monument Valley, Enchanted Mesa, Acoma, and Black Mesa. These sites are part of an enduring landscape that speaks of the ancient heritage of a region that is now known as Arizona and New Mexico. Etching Native American Indian Grand Canyon Lmtd Ed Signed James A. Rome
This etching shows a Native American – possibly Apache – overlooking what looks to be the Grand Canyon with the Colorado River below. This etching is pencil signed, James A. Rome, titled “Man of the Earth” and numbered 42 of 100. This print has been nicely matted, covered with glass and framed with an antique gold wooden frame. The size within mat is 11″ by 6 1/4″. With frame, it measures 14 1/4″ by 9 1/2″. Rome was born in 1936 in Clearwater County, Minnesota. He studied art in Portland, Oregon and moved to Arizona in 1963 and to Jerome in 1970. Rome has been featured in one-man exhibitions throughout the United States including Arizona, California, Florida, New Jersey, New Mexico, Texas and Oregon. Over the past 45 years Rome has mastered oil painting, etching, serigraphy and lithography.
