Curtis Black Eagle 22x30 Hand Numbered Ltd. Edition Native American Indian Art
“Black Eagle” BIG Limited to 100 prints, each print is hand numbered. The image is printed on mould-made, 100% cotton rag watercolor paper imported from France. The image size is 24×17.5 inches. The paper size is 30 x 22 inches. We use the same printer as the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. The image is printed “Giclee”. Giclee is a high-resolution digital print that is created by a series of tiny jets spraying millions of droplets of printing ink onto the highest quality archival artists’ paper. The spray generates more than four million droplets of ink per second; hence, the name Giclee, which is French for fine spray. A precise computer control panel insures consistency of hue, value, and density. Giclees are of such phenomenal quality that even some art experts have difficulty telling a Giclee from an original. This fact has prompted museums and collectors to substitute Giclees for originals, thereby safeguarding priceless works in vaults. Since the Giclee process produces a combination of 512 chromatic changes (with over three and one-half million colors possible) and the resolution is two to three times that of lithographs or serigraphy, a Giclee captures every nuance of an original. Guaranteed to be in mint/new condition. The result is a stunning work, handsome, moody and would look great with any decor. Get this investment quality original print now! Look and see what other collectors have said! The art print came today and it looks great. We’re building a new house and this will look great. “Portrait of a Matador” from “Barcelona Portraits” Suite. Title: “Portrait of a Matador” from “Barcelona Portraits” Suite. Original lithograph in colors on Guarro paper. Edition: 101/120 Limited edition. Signed: Hand signed lower right, numbered lower left. Printed and published by Ediciones Poligrafa, Barcelona. Accompanied by a gallery certificate of authenticity. Artwork size: 29 7/8″ X 22″. A prolific painter, sculptor, lithographer, teacher, mentor and bookmaker; Fritz Scholder changed Native American art forever. His love of teaching caused him to become a major influence on an entire generation of Native American artists and created the foundation of what is now known as contemporary American Indian art. The most recognized and collected Contemporary Artist in the Southwest. Exhibitions of his work were seen in Japan, France, China, Germany, at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, and many other countries. His work is included in many public and private collections including the Boston Fine Arts Museum; The Hirschhorn Museum of Fine Arts, Washington, D. C; the National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institute and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Fritz Scholder’s frank depictions of American Indians made him the most successful and highly regarded painter of Native Americans in U. Arguably the genre’s most influential figure, Scholder revitalized and reconfigured “Indian art, ” forging a unique amalgamation of Expressionism, Color Field, and Pop art to convey his singular take on the experience of the modern American Indian. He created the foundation of what is now known as contemporary American Indian art. Scholder was one-quarter Luiseño, a California Mission tribe, but he said he grew up non-Indian. Born in Breckenridge, Minnesota, Scholder spent his childhood across the Midwest, where he developed a passion for drawing and painting. When the family settled in Sacramento in the late 1950s, Scholder studied at Sacramento City College with the celebrated Bay Area artist Wayne Thiebaud, who exposed him to the Pop art movement and also arranged his first solo exhibition. In turns elegant and radical, Scholder explored Native American identity with poignancy and bravery. His palette of lime greens, blazing oranges, and moody blues masterfully evokes quintessentially American feelings of discovery and rebirth. Scholder’s vigorous and confidant paint application brings to mind the work of Abstract Expressionists Franz Kline and de Kooning; elsewhere anthropomorphized animal forms and somber portraits recall the dark figuration of Francis Bacon and the edginess of Edvard Munch. Beloved Native American writer N. Scott Momaday called Scholder private, dark and mercurial. He did not lift the spirits, he awoke them. Fritz Scholder died in 2005 at the age of 67. He received a B. From Sacramento State College in 1960 and an M. From the University of Arizona in 1964. Over a dozen books have been published on Scholder and his work, and he has been profiled in two documentaries for public television. In a single year, exhibitions of his work were seen in Japan, France, China, Germany, and at the Hermitage Museum in St. In 2008, the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian mounted an unprecedented dual-city career retrospective in both New York City and Washington, D. His awards include fellowships from the Ford, Rockefeller and Whitney foundations. His art is in the permanent collections of major museums, including the National Gallery and the National Museum of American Art in Washington and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The image is printed using specially engineered ink technology for optimum image quality and over 100 years of lightfastness. Guaranteed to be new and in mint condition. George Catlin (July 26, 1796 – December 23, 1872) was an American painter, author and traveler who specialized in portraits of Native Americans in the Old West. Catlin began his journey in 1830 when he accompanied General William Clark on a diplomatic mission up the Mississippi River into Native American territory. Louis became Catlin’s base of operations for five trips he took between 1830 and 1836, eventually visiting fifty tribes. Two years later he ascended the Missouri River over 3000 km to Fort Union Trading Post, near what is now the North Dakota/Montana border, where he spent several weeks among indigenous people who were still relatively untouched by European civilization. He visited eighteen tribes, including the Pawnee, Omaha, and Ponca in the south and the Mandan, Hidatsa, Cheyenne, Crow, Assiniboine, and Blackfeet to the north. There, at the edge of the frontier, he produced the most vivid and penetrating portraits of his career. During later trips along the Arkansas, Red and Mississippi rivers, as well as visits to Florida and the Great Lakes, he produced more than 500 paintings and gathered a substantial collection of artifacts. Look and see what other collectors have said! The art print came today and it looks great. We’re building a new house and this will look great. The Print arrived today, and I must say that it is even more beautiful than I had imagined. I know I will enjoy it for a long time. So pleased to be purchasing this art print of yours. “Two Hopi Girls BIG”. “Two Hopi Girls” BIG Limited to 100 prints, each print is hand numbered. The image is printed on mould-made, 100% cotton rag watercolor paper imported from France. The image size is 18.5×24 inches. The paper size is 30 x 22 inches. The image is printed using specially engineered ink technology for optimum image quality and over 100 years of lightfastness. Guaranteed to be new and in mint condition. The result is a stunning work, handsome, moody and would look great with any decor. Look and see what other collectors have said! The art print came today and it looks great. We’re building a new Arts and Crafts house and this will look great.
