Antique Native American Indian War Club Huge 8 Inch Stone
Antique Native American Indian war club with a huge stone. The stone has some information written on it which I’m unable to read it, I assume it is information about the area where this was found. It is not new or recently made. Handle it carefully, hold the stone head when lifting it, the hide straps are very old and could give out at any moment. This is old with a lot of aging and wear. Measurements: overall length 23.75″, stone alone 8″ length X 2.75 diameter. Total weight 4 pounds 2 ounces. Some items might be unable to be combined. Used, vintage, antique, previously owned, displayed, and such items, are not new or mint condition. They will have wear. It is impossible to describe every tiny detail of every item. If there is a major damage or wear or repair we will reveal it in the description, in either the images or the wording. But if we don’t notice a detail, it is not intentional. We describe our items honestly. We do not mislead or deceive in our descriptions. We do not hide or conceal item details. We do not use deceptive photography or wording. Photographs are part of the description just as much as the words, therefore look at the photographs, we might not write in words what we have already shown clearly in the photographs. This item is in the category “Antiques\Ethnographic\Native American”. The seller is “monfe-chi” and is located in this country: US.

1840 Péhriska-Rúhpa Two Ravens by Karl Bodmer, hand colored stone lithograph
One of the most iconic images to emerge from the picturing of the American West, and certainly Bodmer’s most famous, this emotive portrait of Péhriska-Rúhpa (“Two Ravens”) presents the warrior and chief of the Hidatsa in way that reflects the vanished era of the Plains Indian. Height: 14.41 in. Width: 10.91 in. Stone lithograph with later hand color. Issued in extremely rare series published for Schinz: Naturgeschichte und Abbildungen des Menschen. Zurich: Honeggerschen Lithographischen Anstalt, 1840. From as early as 1835 (before the official version of Bodmer’s prints had been issued) until 1845, H. Schinz published a natural history, with a focus on humans of different races, which included as illustrations very fine lithographs taken from some of the Bodmer prints. Of the first images after Bodmer that appeared in Schinz’s volume, Peter Bolz wrote: these portraits were the first published copies of pictures of American Indians from Bodmer’s travels in North America. They were issued about a year after his return to Europe and approximately four years before Prince Maximilian started publishing his extravagant travel journal in 1839. This is one of the reasons why the prints are of special significant: they founded the artist’s reputation as the’Indian Bodmer. ” From “Karl Bodmer, Heinrich Rudolf Schinz and the Changing Image of the American Indian in Europe. In Karl Bodmer. This item is in the category “Art\Art Prints”. The seller is “danielgoodantiquarianbooks” and is located in this country: GB. This item can be shipped worldwide.
